Manchester Tutor Company, which is a part of the MME group, has been chosen as an approved tuition provider for the National Tutoring Programme by the DfE. Take note that only schools are eligible to participate in this program, meaning that parents cannot directly enrol their children. Instead, subject teachers must initiate the process. MME currently provides NTP tutoring services for maths, English, and science subjects, catering specifically to GCSE-level students. However, this may be extended in the upcoming weeks and months. If you are a parent seeking additional support for your child, which is entirely funded by the school, please reach out to your school directly and inquire about MME’s services as a provider.
The following questions answer some of the questions that parents, students and teachers commonly ask about the National Tutoring Programme.
What is the National Tutoring Programme?
NTP is a government initiative that intends to support schools in securing funds for providing tuition to enhance academic achievements. Initially, it was introduced to assist students in recovering from the setbacks caused by the pandemic. However, its scope has been broadened following the realisation of the immense benefits of tutoring.
How does the NTP funding work?
Each school is provided with a budget of £162 per eligible Pupil Premium student to be utilised as part of the NTP for any student’s benefit. The allocated funding is disbursed 3 times annually in September, December, and April. Schools are entitled to claim 60% of the tuition expenses, up to a limit of £18 per hour per student.
Is the NTP tuition online or in person and is it in groups?
A variety of choices are available for tutoring, ranging from one-on-one in-person sessions to online group classes. Typically, individual in-person tutoring is much costlier compared to group lessons.
